With a colourful sound palette ranging from deep, mellow resonance to more percussive and virtuosic playing, their repertoire includes original works for percussion, and works from well-known composers including the tango driven music of Argentinian, Astor Piazzolla.
Fitzsimons, principal percussionist for Orchestra Wellington, has played with the NZSO since 1993 and his accomplishments range from guest soloist at a marimba festival in Portugal to performing with the Pink Floyd Experience. Tsuruta, a graduate from NZSM in Wellington, has many accolades to her name, including First Prize at the New Zealand National Concerto Competition and semifinalist at the International Marimba Competition in Salzburg.
